People who wear corsets a long time really do look like that. e.g. http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records/human_body/extreme_bodies/smallest_waist_on_a_living_person.aspx
I wasn't sure this was actually a disaster -- bad cut and paste, sure, but not as bad as some, and some people never did give up on corsets -- until I took a closer look at her left hand. It's.... wrong. Really wrong.
True, she looks unreal, but so do many celebrity beauties. Granted, she's an extreme case. But what's going on with her hand on that chair. It looks as if the top of the chair is beginning a creepy ascent to entwine her arm and then Jah knows what!
it looks like they moved the upper part of her body higher to make her breasts look bigger, and in the mix lost proportion. Women who wear corsets do NOT look like this. Women who wear corsets do not have elongated chests.
@ Paul: Not even straight-lacers get heads that are to small for their bodies. Or boobs that low on their torso. Or wrist that bend in weird angles. :)
maybe this is what karaoke guy was looking at that made him scream and shove a table up his own ass. lookit her NECK. the bride of the frankenstein monster if ever there was...thanks for the nightmares, PSD -shudder-
i didn't even notice how gorgeous this dress was at first because i was so distracted by her alien-like body. ironic, because they were probably trying to make the dress look better by making the model curvier...
Ok, I think I understand a bit better why it often seems that people don't read the other comments before they post. i read each and every comment before i posted, but about 5-6 posts that are now ahead of mine (including bofofo's about frankenstein) were not showing when I made my post.
That's not a real person, that's a wax doll with a light-emitting wig. It was modeled after Ru Paul's body measures. Madame Tussaut's parameters are getting weirder every year.
I guess none of you have ever shopped for wedding dresses... pretty much every photo you look at of a wedding dress is photoshopped (on purpose, obviously). Of course most are better than this. But it means you have no clue how these £1000 dresses look on a real person. goddamnit.
seems like a good photoshopper because the wall behind her looks perfect. she's wearing a corset, maybe that's what makes her waist look so skinny. and you cant quite tell if she's standing straight or with her upper body twisted to the right.. and i dont think there's anything wrong with her left hand.
Not that this isn't atrocious, but the Knot gets most of its dress pics from the dress-makers, so they're not really to blame for this one...also, the "site" link doesn't link to the right dress.
(No, I have not spent any time planning my imaginary wedding, why do you ask?)

That said...GRARRR. Oh, REAL women are so imperfect! Real women are not good enough to show our merchandise! Let's use photoshop to twist, bend, stretch, and pinch them into physically impossible proportions! Only then are they good enough! *flips bird*
The focus isn't on how well the wall was photoshopped, the focus is her. And the issue isn't so much that her waist is tiny. The problem is that her waist isn't in the right PLACE. I'm unsure if you're familiar with anatomy, but there's a pretty standard formula to follow when it comes to the human body, and this photo defies everything. And it's unlikely that a photographer, who wants to show off the best quality of a dress, would direct the model to stand in such a peculiar position.
when standing straight with the arms to the sides of the body, the waistline is just a little under the elbows level. its not the photographer's fault, the dress is ugly. i dont like its corset, its too long and the bust.. i think it was designed in a way that makes slim women look like they have big breasts.
@ AC Viper Ok, either you are just jerking our collective chains or you spend much time around the undead. Yes, the wall is perfect...yay for the decorator who worked on it. She was not standing in front of this wall when her picture was taken, so there'd be no reason for the wall to be anything but perfect - she was pasted in front of it, after many, many atrocities were visited upon her poor form. I am not entirely convinced "she" even exists and isn't just a digital creation all together. The face and the dress may be real. The rest? Not so much.
This one is wrong in so many levels... 1.- The disproportionately narrowed hips. 2.- Her chest is.... just no! 3.- Bobble-head 4.- Weird hand 5.- Grey skin
Anyways, I don't want to get married never ever... xD
numerous things wrong with this. It's a perfect example of someone who has the knowhow to be a great photographer but doesn't have the room available, and doesn't know how to properly fake it in photoshop. First, it looks absolutely as if the dress was comped in the shot. Layer 1: Background, Layer 2: model shoulders, Layer 3: Model's head and neck retouching, Layer 4: the dress (most likely on a dress-form) and prop.
Enter into this, the horrible attempt at providing a dramatic light by using a simple levels adjustment to tone down the hilites on the models skin, which then leave it looking corpse-like next to the vivid dress and spotlight on the face. Newsflash to this photo crew - you can't have muted light on a body while having proper light on the clothes it's wearing. Also, read Gray's Anatomy and notice how the muscles in the neck and upper shoulder behave when the head turns. It'll help.
The sad part of this whole thing is that if 30 more seconds were spent on this shot, it would have looked fine. Tilted the head down a bit, added some contrast to the lighting, and fixed that god-awful figure. about 30 seconds total, counting masks. *sigh*
This is, to me, a funhouse-mirror image. I'm sorry for any client who received this as an image-for-pay, though, if it was intended to be used in a serious application.
I went and looked at the site this dress came from and in every single picture of that particular model she looks that skinny. However, not all the models look that way. I'm not saying this wasn't photoshopped, but it is possible that she's naturally freakishly skinny.

This reminds me of the scene in Weird Science where the boys are making their "perfect woman" on the computer.
I have a feeling this photoshopper has just as much experience with real women...
Oh, my...
She looks living a living Barbie doll...no, wait, a MUTANT living Barbie doll, since even Barbie is more proportionate than that!
Hey, it's Elastigirl from the Incredibles!
Verification word: snoti
Holy cow!
Hehe!
This is insane! She looks like that woman that got into the Guinness' Records for having the tiniest waist. Sick.
That's a gorgeous dress. It would look even better on a woman with an undamaged ribcage, though.
This is utterly disturbing, they're sure she is still alive?
ok this should be illegal. also, did nobody think that was going a little too far?

However, the face here is awful.
And am I the only one who noticed her corpse-like gray skin and re-animated flesh face?
oh god
Er look at her HAND!
I wasn't sure this was actually a disaster -- bad cut and paste, sure, but not as bad as some, and some people never did give up on corsets -- until I took a closer look at her left hand. It's.... wrong. Really wrong.
What? Zombified giraffe-woman hybrids with broken wrists need wedding dresses too.
Word verification: terabl. Yes, it certainly is.
Hey, I like a girl who's internal organs are all jammed up into her rib cage.
What?
Verification Word: BINGO
The waist is entirely reasonable. The stretched torso and disproportionately narrowed hips are not.
It's not doubt that they are disasters, but they must be doing this things on purpose right?

I was never connected to reality to begin with, so ha.
Proof that the wedding industry is evil and stupid.
It looks like it will be a fairy tale wedding. (word verification chest)

How did someone manage to mess that one up. Amazing!
Sad thing is ALOT of the pictures on that site are as bad as this one... Where have all the good photoshop artists gone?!...
"Visualize yourself in this dress."
Okay, we'll just paste my face here... Cut! That's a wrap!
Frankenstein's bride !!!

@myself
straightlacers?
Sorry, I blame too little sleep and not enough caffein. I was referring to "tightlacers", of course >.<

She looks so angelic! AND DEAD!!!!

She looks like she's been through a dodge/burn tool the size of a woodchipper. Less is more, people.
I think she had a cameo in Mars Attacks

Her little pink face looks like the head of a matchstick... or the eraser on a pencil.

The wedding industry: one more excellent reason to walk down the aisle in a red cocktail dress.
AHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!
*head explodes
I've got no witty comment to add about the woman with the stretched out waist. I just wanted to say that my verification word is "pullara."
@ tash

ARGH!! Repeat after me: Women's HIPS are as wide as their shoulders! WOMEN'S HIPS ARE AS WIDE AS THEIR SHOULDERS! Not less! That's MALE ANATOMY!!!
uhhh, Dita von Teese can corset her waist down pretty thin, like that.
It is possible...but this does look like barbie.
Pfft. My girlfriend can shrink the lower half of her body like that RIGHT NOW. Not a disaster and I'm removing myself from this feed. {Flounces out}
AAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Anatomy: TOTAL FAILURE.
This is, to me, a funhouse-mirror image. I'm sorry for any client who received this as an image-for-pay, though, if it was intended to be used in a serious application.
Model: "Ugh, I can't breathe"
Photographer: "Nevermind that! Just suck in that horrible gut!"
So, where do they put the internal organs during a shoot?
ew. that's all.
