Yeah, obviously, this looks pretty stupid. But it's not as if they tried to make the coke fit in the scene. This is a fail, but only reaches disaster level if they'd painted on an arm and hand that was holding the bottle.
That may actually have been deliberate. The framin's awful, of course, but if they'd done transparency at the top of the bottle it would have vanished against the background of the girl's outfit, leaving the appearance of a bottle cap floating in space.
Had it been my ad I would probably have taken a radically different approach, possibly offsetting the bottle in its own frame, or seriously rethinking the entire layout.
Ideally, shooting the model with the product in her hand...
I think they've lined up the deep etch on the bottle with the model. That's an idea that sounds interesting but looks no good. Technically it's done OK (I think the layers are actually etched) but no one should have approved the look of it.
She's lit left to right. The bottle (whilst mostly blanket and backlit) is lit right to left. Personally I would have just separated the two and not had them overlapping at all.
My mind went numb with primal sucking requirements moving me closer to the upper right of the poster in an irresistible way. And I'm not the target! Target reade right to left so juxposition of red crusted nipple with overlayed bottle is dangerous! (imho) best keep this in subway stations near Univ. campus! twitter: arthurbarbato
well, think bout the transparency in this case: the bottle would look like crap, dirty with that background... i mean, isnt a realistic bottle, but its better for the brand to make it look that way... advertising in this case is not a search for realism: they just want to show u the product
If you see the other wallpaper in the original page you'll notice that the two bottles have no background, except for the neck "transparent" part. The black background that can be seen in the right side of the bottle is the model's left arm.

Not only that, usually ads have condensation on the drink bottle too.
It would be nice if ad designers could be bothered to compose a whole scene in real life rather than trying so often to just paste things together like a George Lucas movie. I mean, a model that isn't actually wearing the jewelry and a bottle that isn't actually in front of a model just says they're being cheap!
Honestly i think this is a level by the designer. I think that's the intention to make it appear multiple layer, and honestly it looks better if you sit back and zone out on it than it would if it were transparent.

that soda looks FAKE as hell. any 8th grader could have done that way better... yes, just use the Transparency button on Photoshop!!!!!

At least the girl looks okay, I don't like nipple piercings tho :\. Anyways, pepsi > coca cola in taste.
Who's looking at the bottle, seriously? Why bother?
Re: Erik.
That's not a nipple.

Oh my god, Namie Amuro @ Photoshop Disasters? How cool is that =) And it's not too bad, even tho it's clearly a fail.
@Moose
Is it a moon?
Sorry, there's a coke bottle?
Coke zero ¬ Coke.

horrible editing aside, since when is coke (even a sugar free one) a health drink?
@Chad Schoffield - do you have the moon or a nipple in your stomach?
@JB Who looks at the Coke bottle? Seriously? I can tell you who should be. Like how about THE PEOPLE WHO SELL COKE.
Who cares, a photo with Namie is a win.
It's interesting that that bottle of Coke Zero looks both FLAT and WARM. Not very appetizing.
Flat and warm, like Namie ba-dump CHING!!
Thank you folks, I'll be here all week.
But seriously, something no one has commented on: Women's skin has pores. And that's OK, art directors. They are not plastic IDORU.
(This example is not nearly as bad as what they always do with Hamasaki, but you can see they've had a go at her.)
@ الفرقد أبو الفرقد
So are you saying you don't think it's a Photoshop disaster?
Multiply the bottle layer und you get what you need. There is no need for transparency or other timekilling javascript:void(0)experiments.
She's lit left to right. The bottle (whilst mostly blanket and backlit) is lit right to left. Personally I would have just separated the two and not had them overlapping at all.

However, you should stick your anal plug up your butt and stop posting shit.
(that was an r-rating post... sorry -.-)
So..... So...... Sooooo close Coca Cola. -- but not quite. Hahaha.

Fellas,
The bottle of Coke is full of smoke, don't you see that? That's why it looks so white solid... :P
Yes, yes... The bottle is not transparent, but there got to be something worse out there...

Disastrous. Either use an photo of a coke bottle taken on a dark backround or, better still, don't have the bottle overlapping her dark clothing.
As an aside, what is "Wild Health"?

Exactly.
@ gwy9etc
it really depends on how hungry I am, but it's OK as I drink Coke Zero or Diet so I can't put on any more weight
oheso, you are mistaken. Hamasaki actually is plastic.

speaking of photoshop & transparency: would that work for the girl's clothes, too?
The opaque white gas in the bottle is the exhaust plume from the experimental chemicals mixed in novel ways in the dark brown beverage.
I don't think they intended to make it transparent. It's a cut in image. Looks a little weird, but it's not a photoshop error, it's a design decision.

It just looks like someone pasted the bottle on top of the other layer.
Namie on PhotoshopDisasters! AAH!
Who cares about the bottle, at least they didn't butcher Namie lol.
I wonder who's even looking at the coke.
waa haaa, Namiee!! :D :D who gives a crap about the coke, Namie is on fiyah :D
Namie Namie Namieeeeee!!! love ♥ who cares about the bottle? Namie *¬*
