Samsung: XXL-CD

Samsung PSD
Notes to Eddie before posting:
  • Check people in India are not all dwarfs

  • Have CDs gotten bigger? Maybe this is like a CD LP? or a CD 78?

  • Is it unreasonable to expect people who make CDs to know how big they are? They seem so happy

what, you mean cd's aren't bigger than your head?

It looks like one of those old Laser Discs from the 80's :)

all I know is that the dude has better cleavage than the chick.

David said...

They're bowing to humankinds' innate "size matters" mentality. Someone seeing that picture is going to register subconsciously that Samsung's CDs are somehow, I can't quite tell how, "better" than their rivals'. It will not matter that no amount of forcing will get them into a standard CD drive, you get more CD for your buck, dammit!

I get a 1994 vibe from this... and it was probably a 80s laser disc lol

Where are his head phones plugged into? haha

I'm guessing the "sensible bit of Samsung" wasn't part of the artistic process.

The CD of homeshoolers, my something can something something, I don't know....

Did you know that if a CD is bigger than your face, it means you have cancer?

Morgan said...

Yet, mysteriously, they got the hand reflection right in the insanely oversize disc.

pootpoot said...

"Where are his head phones plugged into?"

They aren't plugged nowhere, they're blootoof.

I like how the guy wears that vest with nothing underneath. Not only does it look sharp in a hot granny kind of way, especially with only one or two buttons closed at bellybottom height, it's also very practical from a "have fun washing and drying that handwash only/don't tumble piece of apparel every other day" point of view.

But I guess the house husband in me is missing the point here.

"they got the hand reflection right in the insanely oversize disc"

Of course they did. They're professionals.

(Verification: plate. Now isn't that ridiculously fitting?)

They also fail to realize that simply putting on headphones and holding a CD dosen't allow you to listen to it.

I guess Laser Disks are finally the medium of choice!

Way too small to be a laserdisc.

Perhaps the reason that the guy's cleavage is better is related to the fact that the cardigan he's wearing is a woman's one, to judge from the way it buttons up. Maybe he's his own girlfriend and he's somehow trying to prove a point.

Son of Saddam* said...

i really do wonder even in india or europe WHY would the designer/art director enlarge the product to about twice its actual size?

Anna said...

hilarious!!!! I love it!!!

It fell prey to the dreaded client curse "Make the product bigger".

Have you ever seen somebody lick the chutney spoon in an Indian Restaurant and put it back? This would never have happened under the Tories.

nimble said...

objects enlarged to show texture?

hevoh said...

er, pootpoot, what's a bellybottom...?

Kasey said...

Laserdiscs are the size of LP's (to use another archaic standard) or 9" diameter. A laserdisk would be much larger than either head.

This is simply a case of pasting a cd and not sizing it properly.

Tiffany said...

The dude is wearing a rather effeminate sweater...

Waldobaby said...

OK. A CD is 4.75 inches/120 mm in diameter. This statuesque chicita is pretty danged close to having a 1.3 CD sized head. The rule of thumb for proportions (except for thumbs) is 7 to 8 heads high be the whole body.

Put all that together and the female model works out to be 47 inches / 1.2 Meters tall. It could happen. Riiight!

Maybe the photographer took the rule of always marrying someone with small hands and made it a lifelong obsession...

Philangelus said...

I'm just wondering how rare and exotic CDs are, if they couldn't photograph a model holding an actual CD.

pootpoot said...

"er, pootpoot, what's a bellybottom...?"

Well, duh, it's the bottom of your belly!

lol, sorry, I'm not a native speaker, if this wasn't already perfectly obvious. I probably meant bellybutton.

Um - the size of the CD is one thing, but what the heck is going on with that dude's arm??? Compare the hand on is ear with the part of the arm below the disc and obviously, something went very wrong with that image....

Rebecca said...

i, too, find the guy's upright arm concerning.

Parker said...

looks more like an old vinyl record in the image, but someone did not notice and thought that CDs are the same size. Vinyl single = 178 mm, CD = 120 mm. Vinyl LP = 305 mm.

Bonus points: The lovely lady is holding the hand of someone who doesn't exist. Or the guy has a third, really really long arm.
