my girlfriend can do that.

Well, it could be that they were embarassed about where they'd put the legs on the Blu-Ray version -- horizontally displaced from the hips -- and deleted them out of shame for the DVD. That's the most generous possible interpretation.

some major man-tit action here..even more emphasized by the editing

Better composition without the legs

crashdevil666 said...

is it Dave or David?

and blu-ray is much better :)

Also:
"Who wants to die first"

...Are question marks not cool any more?

Tim said...

Not really a disaster is it? Just two different versions... (and I agree with synthetic - it's better without the legs)

Maybe the title of this blog should be changed to "Photoshop Foibles".

The comments section should be subtitled "I can't see what's wrong but I can pretend!"

So that's why blu-ray's cost so much more.

Matteo said...

With blue ray you can see more, it's natural :D.
Seriously I don't get the "disaster" here, sorry... :)

David said...

It looks like the DVD version still contains a layer that outlines the legs of the man on our right.

WDI said...

"Better composition without the legs"?
The comments never cease to amaze me.

Leigh said...

You have all overlooked an even more obvious mistake.

The leads name has been misspellt.
Its 'Dave Batista'. Theres no 'U' in his name.

DanH said...

@WDI and re: synthetic/tim

The legs on either side of him, being the same shade as his torso, kind of mess with the shape of him as the hero of the shot.

Now the legs on the right, in the DVD version, disappear into the "mist" - while the legs on the left aren't even there.

I agree it looks a bit odd, but for the sake of 'the composition', it's not really a stretch, for this kind of artwork, to say they were obscured by the "mist".

Who the heck would notice ANYthing wrong with that photo when there's such a HOT MAN on the cover! wOOF!

Hear me know und listen to me later. 'Batista' is his ring name and 'David Bautista' is his Girly-man stage name.

Trekker4747 said...

I more noticed the "bulkier" and more flatter/stretched the central actor is in the DVD cover. But the legs thing... I dunno. I'm calling "fail" on this one. It's less disaster and just more inconsistent artistic license between packagings.

"Batista" is his "wrestler name" "Bautista" is how his surname is actualy spelled.

ZaphodQB said...

Is that center dude home schooled?

Yo Momma said...

ZaphodQB, your Toyota keyboard is funny. Just a bit sick but funny.

Galileo said...

Not much of a PSD. There are more of that magic "fog" around their neither regions on the DVD, thats all.

By the way, note how ugly the Bluray box is compared to the DVD box. That is still the number one complain I have about Bluray.

Aline said...

@ Leigh - there's no mistake, his real name is David Michael Bautista, Jr.

Nick said...

There is no missing question mark: the tag-line is a reference to Doctor Who: Who wants to die first.

W/V: poretch - the kind of person who might enjoy this movie.

The Mushroom said...

Wait, wait... did everyone miss that on the DVD box the actor up front's right hand goes past the edge of the box? How did this not get mentioned previously?

Michael Grosberg said...

The DVD looks better, artistically. The black legs blend with the middle person's torso making him look fat.

Also, no, your girlfriend CAN'T in fact do that.

Hannu said...

The funny thing about this movie is: Dave Batista has like 4 scenes in the movie. And He's Rob Van Dam's sidekick.

But since he's a bigger name(with more different spellings due legal reasons) in the wrestling world he gets to be in the middle of the poster.

Nina said...

I don't believe it. No-one here noticed, that those two guys are completely disproportioned on the blu-ray? Either they're really big midgets, or the composition is awfull, and I tend to assume it's the latter.

Honestly. That guy on the right can only be about 5 feet tall. I suggest that's the reason they erased the fake legs on the DVD cover, because it might look a bit silly if Testosteron-boy is accompanied by two Oompa-Loompas as sidekicks.

silverviper2k said...

Hmm, seems the skyline has shifted as well behind the hero's head...

I prefer the DVD as well..

rachel carter said...

what is going on with his forehead?

scottl said...

Wow, if any of you actually saw this movie, you would know that those two guys are actually growing out of the main character's shoulders...they didn't want to give away the surprise so they put on some "pretend" legs on them...clearly : )

Orosganos said...

...and I thought Blu-ray *cost* an arm and a leg...I stand corrected.

Um, it's a drawing. Its not supposed to be photo realistic.

WDI said...

Oh, it's a drawing!
I'm very glad you pointed that out because I was sitting here, like a dimwit, thinking it was a horrendous PS job based on an equally horrendous photo of dreadful looking 'actors' in a film that might appeal to 9 year old cat-killers.

CRash said...

Artistic license? I'm sorry, the guy on the right just looks silly with only a torso. No amount of mist would realistically obscure just his legs like that when his upper body is so sharp, and when the guy on the left has a visible black rectangle sprouting slightly below him. Not only is it stupid, the whole cover is unbalanced because of that.

Then why the mix of Dave from "Dave Batista", the in ring name and Bautista from "David Bautista", his real name? =P
