This could actually be intentional, given the product's purpose and the sport the kid is playing.

Mushroom Of The Thinking And Of The Evil. For goodness sake!

Jens Ayton said...

That’s not a disaster, I can do that with my (S)-thalidomide right now.

huesnlight said...

his other arm is missing.. or bitten off?

Bill said...

Give the poor kid a hand (and an arm), he is obviously suffering from the agony of defeet.

Kevin said...

For the record, champignon, not champion, is the french word for mushroom.

the full text translates (literally) as "champion of growth and the awakening"

Anderson said...

what the fuck? these are some thick legs for a kid!

David said...

Kevin, you wanna know something? I think Cosmo already knew this. Sheesh.

If you want a less literal translation, what they want to say is that it's the best for growth and development.

David said...

... And one which develops the kid from the ankles down at so much more of an advanced rate than anything else can't be called the champion of anything.

Romain said...

Probably intentional. Especially when considering the text of the ad.

DanH said...

Aren't intentional disasters the worst type of disaster? Even if someone told me Picasso did this ad I would still hate it. Disaster.

Susan Wensel said...

And the explanation for the teddy bear's hands?

wv: throb -- Exactly what this ad makes my eyes do.

Alejo said...

The teddy bear is supposed to be a goalie and is wearing goalie gloves. That does not explain the giant feet on the kid, nor the idea that this image would be anything other than frightening and disturbing.

WV: snedlyms -- the horrific bodily transformations brought on by the use of this product.

Loner Gamer said...

Maybe he's related to Mandy Sellars?

Aerozol said...

haha this ad is great

B said...

Well, I can safely say that THAT is one brand of formula I won't be giving my child.... losing limbs and adult size feet? Yikes!

robgs said...

I reckon that kid could punt that football to Mars with feet like that. Should have raised my kids on Soylent Green too...

martni said...

That child is adorable.

D™ said...

I don't think this is so much a Photoshop disaster, more an Art Direction Disaster.

Waldobaby said...

Who here sees adult sized feet? I see adult sized shoes: the kid's playing!

Isha said...

Man, when I was playing dress up with my parents clothing and shoes I wish they had kept around a pair of adult sized ankles for me to try on as well. Where's a serial killer ,body part stashing parent when you need one?

ZaphodQB said...

I will comment on this when I get back. I have to go change my undies, I just pissed in them.

Waldobaby said...

Socks! Lots and lots of socks!

This actually reminds me of the other PsD post from JcPenney. Pure gold. lol

I think the translation is:

Were the champions in crossing the line of evil!

Probably the ad is a kind of defiance of Doctor Frankenstein...

WV: obste
Hey you grammar scholars: Obsta Photoshop!

I don't give a crap if it was intentional, it looks Retarded. and when it comes to advertising, an accidental retard, or an intended one, is still a fail. Oh and for all the toffy nosed pricks who love nothing more than picking away at people's translations (even when they were intentionally mistranslated for humour) - get stuffed, serioussly, take your opinions elsewhere.

Not even 'shopped. It's a kid wearing an adult jersey and soccer shoes. Dressup. It's what kids do sometimes. The bear got dressed up with goalie gloves.

The only disaster is that the pic made it on this blog as a photoshop disaster.

Oh, and the other arm? It's behind his back, scratching his itchy butt.

Keep moving folks, go find something that your girlfriend can do while she's getting homeschooled.

Philangelus said...

As a mom of four children who think it's very funny to put on mommy's and daddy's Great Big Shoes, I want to point out that when they do this, their ankles don't fill the top of the shoe. There would be a huge gap because an adult ankle that would fill that size shoe would be twice the size around as a child's ankle.

So while the adult shoe thing was clearly intentional, they're not on kid-feet. Disaster.

eyeondesigns said...

The ankles aren't filling the shoes, the big, wrinkled up soccer socks are. Not a disaster, I'm sticking with it.

M said...

Yeah, the kid just has two pairs of socks on. That's all!

Right...

Robbie said...

My first thought was indeed "kid wearing big adult shoes". Then I saw the ankles flaring out like a cone... Also, kids wearing adult shoes are sloppy and clunky in them. If he was wearing big boots, he couldn't hold up his back foot like that without losing the shoe.

Then I saw the missing arm. There's no excuse for that, art-direction-wise. Maybe the photographer had him stick his arm behind his back, so it wouldn't block the view of the "goal". But he could have held it in the air or something.

What really amazes me is that, with all the discussion about "Mushroom of the thinking and of evil", nobody's noticed the URL at the bottom of the ad: www.mangerbouger.fr. So the target market must be nose-pickers.

Marie said...

Intentional.

adler said...

you know what they say about men with large feet.

Beto Collin said...

Where is the left arm? haha

Murilo Silva said...

Hmm, "croissance"? I suppose it has something to do with that moon-shaped bread?

Maybe the kid ate too many croissans, and that's why his feet are larger than his arm(s).

Lou said...

I bet the ladies like him

Alex said...

Paging kid from the JC Penny catalog, we found your brother.

Erica said...

yes, clearly it's completely intentional and not a disaster at all.
His cankles might appear to not be proportional with the rest of his body, but that's only because this ad was shot the wide angle lens. And yes, the adult shoes fit perfectly on his child sized feet, because he's got a small owl, not an extra pair of sock, stuffed in the shoes.

FrolicFrog said...

I'm French and I can tell you that's awful even considering the text of the ad!

WDI said...

Eyeondesigns. Surely a catastrophic misnomer given your comments?

Nina said...

Is that a French or a Belgian ad? Because, if it's Belgian, it explains a lot. Imagine that kid with blue skin, he'd just look like a smurf. An ugly, one-armed smurf, nevertheless.

Alex said...

He also has some big feet !

panzi said...

It's for hobbit children.
