You guys are so insensitive. Clearly she has hyperlegitis! Just Google it, and do your research before you go bashing someone who clearly has no fault of the condition she's in.
I just contorted myself into that position (wearing jeans and a T-shirt). My knee comes up to that position vis-a-vis my shoulder and my other leg easily fits into place, so the photo(shop job) isn't as crazy as you might think. (And I'm only 5'7" with a longish torso and legs that aren't extraordinarily long.)
It's not so much the size of the front leg (though my knee is below my shoulder in that position, and I've never been called "Stumpy") as that the other leg seems to have atrophied.
The average adult human figure is about 7 to 7.5 heads tall. The idealized human figure in traditional art is about 8 heads tall. By my rough measurements with a pair of calipers, she is 8.5 heads tall.
I guess she could just be tall with a smallish head?
I don't think there's anything wrong with her front leg, I reckon they've made her back leg look shorter, because it probably looked wildly out of place where it should have gone to...
With big long legs like that it would have jutted way out to the side.
Her feet aren't "monstrously large", people. A normal person's foot is about the same length as their forearm, and she's wearing pointy shoes that extend her toes even further. Her feet are fine.
I'm guessing they 'shopped the raised leg longer and forgot to do the other one. Although, for the record, the raised leg doesn't look that odd to me; my knee reaches about the same level when I sit like that, and models are generally chosen for their freakish proportions anyway.
This one is easy to test at home. Just sit down in the same pose! I did, and my knee did not even come close to my face. I'd love to see someone able to kiss their own knee with their back relatively straight...
If you can't see the photoshop in this picture, you need to start looking more at real women.
For the love of God, people, will you be told? The problem isn't with the left leg - that's fine, I can get my leg into that position and I'm a 30-something man. The problem is with the right leg, which you can't get into that position unless you had severe polio as a child.
nonsense, I'm sitting in that exact position right now, my knee doesn't come as close to my face as hers does, but like PerverseCowgirl says this model was probably picked for her stupidly long legs.
The legs look different lengths, but there's nothing weird about how she' sitting.
Put your leg against your chest and tell me she isn't part insect. I am 6 1 and most of my height in in my legs--as in, when I sit down I am at par with someone who is sitting, but would be a couple itches taller than that person if we were standing--and when I go into that position my leg barely makes it to my collarbone.
I often wonder: who is a graphic designer / photoshop pro nowadays? Someone who has not the slightest idea about the human body. How were they trained?
I am not conservative but I would most probably welcome a return to nude drawing and sketching classes if it means we could avoid these absurd pictures. They help no-one. They make me feel we live in a society which, as a whole, suffers from Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
My son is proportioned exactly like this. In this position, his knee reaches his chin even without a high heel. Of course, it, along with a few other characteristics, has been cause for me to suspect he has Marfan's Syndrome. While I'm sharing my suspicions, I have often suspected a lot of models may be from the Marfan's pool--long limbs and super thin.
"Could you point out how this picture was, in your opinion, photoshopped?
Cosmo, you are lame."
I dunno who you are 'S', but I think the picture sort of speaks for itself. If you cant see the error here than you are the only lame one here. Or, on the other hand, if you'd like to be one of those shits who wants to get all technical about what medium was used to produce the end product (e.g: photoshop, coral draw, publisher etc) well than once again, you are the lame one.
We all know that not all the pictures on here are done with photoshop, what we do know is that they HAVE been tampered with in some way, and we also know that 99% of people call this 'photoshopping', wether it was done in photoshop or not. Now grow up and take you're pedantic remarks elsewhere, were people actually give a crap about your tiny, small minded, lame opinions.
Her right thigh, people, they shrunk it so much it almost looks like it was dropped on the floor.
Notice there's a line in the skirting board that is more or less at the height where her actual thigh should be. If you follow that line, you reach the hips. If you follow the photo's thigh line, you hit the floor.
I tried to sit in that position, and it took 20 minutes and two people to get me off the floor. (Glad I didn't try my little experiment with 4" heels. I could have hurt myself.)
Now I totally understand why I never became a pantyhose model.
I did a bit of medical research and it is neither "hyperlegitis" (like ventura incorrectly suggested, but an extremely good guess none the less) nor is it "inflatable prosthetic leg syndrome" (a very serious condition but also a incorrect diagnosis).
Her right leg has "gumbyitis" (a condition originally identified in 1953; her legs are eventually going to turn a green, greenish-blue color and take on a clay-like consistency).
Davidikus, there are plenty of drawing classes with nude models. People just need to TAKE the classes. Check your local arts center. I model for a variety of these classes at the arts center in my area. Figure drawing, anatomy, portraiture, open drawing session on Sundays...
I think I've finally got it, thanks to some of the commenters above. It's not the leg she's holding, it's the one on the floor! It looks like a little butt crack...
To Jonny Dade, what bothers me is that this blog regards everybody, who has an unusual anatomy, photoshopped. Persons who are thin and tall end up here, persons with twisted legs, persons with small head etc. I wish this blog would focus to pointing out funny photoshop mishaps instead of mocking narrow-mindledly people´s anatomical differences.
About 50% of these "photoshop disasters" are such that it really makes me wonder why those pictures are here. For cracking lame joke about transvestites?
Thanks for replying 's', i guess i was harsh on you. I shouldn't come on this site when i'm in work, i always come on in a stress, and then get even more stressed when i read the comments. I can totally understand what you say about the anatomy of supermodels, and how this blog can pick up on a 'disaster' which is nothing more than an odd pose. My problem is that i live in a little bubble where everything is pretty and everybody is nice to eachother. It totally cramps my style when people post criticism on here, i don't know why. I guess it's because it's something i don't do very often, but oh well, i'm rambling on a bit here. good day to you sir 'S', i hope our differences do not collide again in future.
Guys, I really don;t think this is that bad. I am 5'10'' and I always sit with my chin on my knees, like she would be able to do. It is also easier because the fabric is wrinkled and her back is cut off so she can really scrunch down to make her leg look longer. Based on my proportions, her feet are actually a little small - mine are about an inch shorter than my forearms.

My girlfriend can do that.
Quick, put her in a Tim Burton movie!!!!
well..she's a NON-RUNNER..whatever that means.
I would appreciate my wife to do that... *uhm...*
We can see the whole leg - given a rough assumption for height - can we work out how distorted he leg length is compared to head to hip distance?
Help with sizing, indeed.
(word verification: dinotri, doubtless one of this model's ancestors)

What body part is that meant to be at the top of her leg just beneath her clothes? A leg attached to the outside of her hip? A side-buttock?

Helloowww felooows!! Teh problem is the difference between the legs!!!
There's something wrong with this photo, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Because her legs are two different sizes it would look very awkward if she was standing. Logically, they posed her sitting. (Duh?)
And notice how her shoulder and knee are almost exactly the same shape and height. (Eerie)
Okay, I guess that her right hand/arm is in some awkward position behind her (likely there is a jacket covering it)...
...but where is the rest of the hair that should be hanging from the right side of her head?

You know what they say about a girl with big hands and big feet...
@Nora - are your feet that monstrously large too?
You can see the arm's color blending into the shoulder!
Inflatable prosthetic legs just ain't what they used to be.
This is truly awful... How can they do that? I mean... don't they have eyes or any judgemental skill?
Anyone who has done figure drawing knows that the legs are 1/2 the body height, no more than .6 usually.
I don't think there's anything wrong with her front leg, I reckon they've made her back leg look shorter, because it probably looked wildly out of place where it should have gone to...

Thank You for posting this! I really like your blog - keep up the great work!!

Man shoes!
Oh wait! I forgot! Since this is a selling illustration for pantyhose, why would the leg NOT be made more prominent?
Could you point out how this picture was, in your opinion, photoshopped?
Cosmo, you are lame.
It's a scan! The gigantic leg must be seeping through from the previous webpage on the interweb.
I feel cheated and angered, as if my life were negatively affected in some way.
Maybe her legs are like that from a camping mishap....

wow, this girl brakes the record of Adriana Sklenarikova having the longest legs :-D
Her right shoe looks considerably smaller than her left one.
She is literally my perfect woman.
