Apple: Still Adobe's Fault

ipod touch PSD
Oh Apple, we didn't mind when you went all control freaky with your App store. We didn't mind when you got all weird about Flash. We didn't even mind when you killed those hookers and tried to blame it on our parents. But we do mind when you let your production standards plummet like this.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in! Original is here!

Edit: Wow, they changed it. I'd like to think someone at Apple at some point shouted "It's on fricking Photoshop fricking Disasters! You're going to be here all night."

You'd think with Apple's cash reserves they'd you know...do an actual photoshoot. Yikes.

They just wanted to try a retro avant-garde collage style, that's it.

Her right arm/elbow does not match up with the hand.
That's what I see.

toragurl03 said...

The arm on the left (her right)... Her elbow is fully extended right? Or am I seeing things?

All I can say is... Ow.

wv: phona. as in phona doctor to reattach her hand to her wrist

But I know what went wrong, I'm sure of it. You can use Photoshop on the next generation iPhone. Really, you can. And really, they made a beautiful advert, to be delivered the next day. But then the guy lost the iPhone in a bar. he noticed loss the following morning. But then he only had ten minutes before the deadline. I think it is pretty amazing what you can do in ten minutes, don't you think?

She is a giant in a little teeny weeny library with teeny weeny books.

I've got that app. It's called smalldwarfwithabighandunderthedesk. I haven't needed it yet but I can see its value here.

And she probably has really wide shoulders with no neck....at least that's what I picture by the angles of her arms.

that 32" mac book pro looks tempting... and the micro Ipad must be a new product

DanH said...

Don't you see? It's a secret teaser for the new Apple product.

Think about the patterns - first the iPod touch, then the GIANT iPod touch - the iPad.

Now, we have the MacBook, next will be the GIANT MacBook!

Oooo Ima Gonna line up for one o.o

It's a 12 year old kid with the hands of a 30 year old.

waldobaby said...

It doesn't seem odd that the rays from the screen extend across the frame?

Bruce said...

I think her hands are supposed to be over the top of the product.

waldobaby said...

An average middle finger should be about 3.5 inches / 9 cm. That makes this little laptop (say it's the 17") about 23 inches / 59 cm wide. That seems a bit large.

waldobaby said...

Wait! I got it! They hire tiny women with tiny hands to make their mac look big!

Blake said...

its actually not a photo, its a painting thats been digitally rendered. and there are people on the planet who look like that...idiots

Blake said...

its actually not a photo, its a digital painting. And whats this about looking like she's from every race...thats crap.

idiots

Morgan said...

Not a disaster: I have that MacBook and it is three inches wider at the rear than at the front. It's a real mindfuck when you're using it, feels like you're in an Escher painting.

Or a bad comp.

Donna said...

So basically she is a 12-year old multi-raced no-neck dwarf with nicely manicured grown-up hands with a dislocated arm.

So the problem is.....?

Only Apple has the money and resources to go through all that trouble to find that unique a type of model...don't you think?

DanH said...

@donna you forgot to mention that she is home-schooled and unboneable

DanH said...

wow I just noticed they have replaced the image. I wonder if this blog is responsible?!

If so, one thing we have to hand to Apple is they know how to put a lot of effort into protecting their corporate profile.

And of course this image was never on the site in the first place. And we were always at war with Eurasia. I mean East Asia.

Donna said...

Hey DanH...sorry about the omission. Thanks for pointing it out. You see, I've been distracted lately. My owl is sick.

David Taylor said...

The image they have replaced it with looks even more painful. Unless those are someone else's hands.

JJ said...

The replaced the picture on their site, but the MacBook still has the same light reflections on it... :)

Am I the only one who finds an uncanny resemblance to the "Ugly Betty" intro? The girl even looks like the actress, but aside form that, just the way you can just see the top part of her head... weird

I like this site! Makes me look at ads a whole different way!

Jason said...

Some people manicure their hands totally different from each other. And have fingers that are a different shape. And have really long upper arms on one side. And sit far away from a giant bookshelf.

Don't see the issue here.

Thall said...

They replaced the photo with another woman with a computer and ipod. However, just like the previous woman/computer/ipod combo, they were never in the same room at the same time.

doka said...

On the replacement ad (the one where the girl is semi-levitating the laptop), they forgot to mention about the "slot" below the keyboard that allows that little screen i-thingie pod (that says "GOAL" on it) to stand up by itself. I hadn't noticed that "option" on the original. I guess I was too impressed with the manicure job.

Dont be hatin' on my pshoppin people - you dont know what its like - it's like making filet mignon out of dog food......

Julie Y. said...

Oh, LOL.. I was like Nick, at first I couldn't see it!

Angie_25 said...

did you also notice that on the left side, the laptop is sitting so that it extends past the edge of the table, while on the right hand side it does not? Just looking at it, you can tell there is no way that laptop ever sat on that table in real life!

macniac25 said...

Still there on the canadian store ;-)

Joanna said...

Ironically the replacement image is still a composite of the same iPod Touch and Macbook but with a different girl. It also still looks horrible. Apparently they really hate Adobe.

Mel said...

They're now using this pic on other sites, but have 'shopped in a massive afro on her. I'll dig up screenshots when I find it again. I know they're using it in a Facebook ad.

Mel said...

Damn, slightly different comp. Apologies for the tiny pic, but y'know... it's a Facebook ad. http://i47.tinypic.com/102mf7p.jpg

danidors said...

I'm with Doka!

I love how the new version includes that slot next to the pad to slide in your iPod or iPhone or anything that needs to stand up in front of you.
It's very handy when you need to keep an eye on something and copy it on your screen, like, for example, some awful collage of a girl with painfully wide shoulders that make look Michael Phelps the skinniest guy ever.

John Riley said...

People, people. This is NOT a *Photoshop* disaster! Don't you know Apple is at war with Adobe? This is a result of Apple requiring their creative folks to use the *GIMP*!

GIMP disaster!

GNU Image Manipulation Program indeed.

Word Verification: expyrlp, as in "Apple failed to hire an expert; they went with an expyrlp instead".

CRash said...

I am concerned about the models that Apple is using to peddle their Mac-To-School deal. They must all have horrific deformities of the mouth. You can see even less of the replacement model's face on the U.S. page. (The original ad is still up on the Canadian, UK, and German sites...probably others as well.)

WV: hogies
I suppose it's possible that Apple's models could just be munching on hogies behind their overlarge badly-comped Macs...

Ante said...

Also, and this just be my opinion, but who holds a computer like the girls they've used? Fingerprints like to show up nicely on the screen. As for the "fixed" image, I have to say, I just tried lifting up my MacBook Pro just like that and guess what? It's not exactly the most comfortable way to hold it. Makes me feel like I'm about to drop the computer, or that it will slide backwards off my hands into my arms, and THEN I'll drop it. Not to mention that her hands don't exactly look natural. (Did I mention the bird on the board that looks like it's holding either 1) a triangular razor blade or 2) Pyramid Head's head?)

WV: traphom
"When the Photoshoppers' ad ended up HERE, the higher-ups at Apple decided to traphom there until they made a new one."
