It's a man, baby !

I don't really understand... is it just funny because it's Britney and everything on the cover is about sex?

This is stupid. Whats the shop? Sometimes the posts on here barely qualify as shop worthy...

Ryan said...

uh, look at her head/neck. really, really bad for a magazine like cosmo.

Prikolist said...

The head and the body came from two different women, in case you didn't get that from the description.

Maxx said...

Hmm. How many models does it take to make a Britney?

zahirah.com said...

Come on, guys. Give her a break! Didn't you hear she's been playing a lot of rugby lately?

Rob Hoffmann said...

RUN! It's Frankenbritney!

nakleh said...

The problem with these head transplants is that they only take the head, severing it right at the jawline, which makes it look fake. If they took the head, neck, and some of the shoulders, then blended that in with the original file, it would look much neater.

ewaffle said...

Britney has always been known for her tree-trunk like neck and her Samson ready, Philistine slaying jawbone.

Isha said...

Er. The tattoos match up with her tattoos. Unless they also pasted them in...

I mean, she's always had a thick neck and masculine jaw line.

Am I missing something other than the regular over the top airbrushing and curve adding that make a cover girl look like she's stepped directly out of the uncanny valley?

Eman said...

It reminds me of the old Tiger Beat magazines where the heads of pop stars would be pasted onto stars. swirls, etc.

Angela said...

Britney has had a lot of problems, but acromegaly hasn't been one of them. Her features are out of proportion to the rest of her and somehow she's got Lindsay Lohan's hairline.

For one thing her neck looks chopped off. She reminds me of a bobblehead. It very well may be her body, but from a different picture.

Donna said...

CHECK OUT THE HANDS!!!!

I wonder where they came from. Her right one looks like a finger may have been removed as evidenced by the unusual gap, and on the left hand, what the heck is she hiding/holding???

Claude said...

My thumb can bend like that!

actonthat said...

Her eyes seem to be looking in different directions. Is that not bothering anyone else?

Mathieu Pagé said...

Leave Britney alooone!

Jared said...

no, seriously, her right hand is missing all of the fingers.

Jonn Wood said...

So after years of being shooped onto porno models, they do the same thing when they actually have a picture of her.

doka said...

I have it figured out!
That "gap" between her thumb and her first finger on her right hand...
That is where she had her sixth finger amputated.
(She said it got in the way when she was trying to play the guitar.)

Lance Christopher said...

This is *definitely* Britney... they just probably swapped heads from another photo or had a real tough time with a double chin!!

I wish my heart happy too!

I often think that the comments on here reflect the person's actual photoshopping skills in real-life. The pro's can spot a mistake from a mile off, whilst the crapper shoppers, and the one's who don't shop at all, often fail to see the mistake/humour.

From this day forth, next time i see 'not a PSD' or 'This is stupid. Whats the shop? Sometimes the posts on here barely qualify as shop worthy...' i'll automatically translate that as "i'm either stupid or just never use photoshop myself - thus voiding any opinion i may have on this post"

oh and Britney's thumb down there looks like a little pork suasage...

Kristijan said...

I'm not buying it. You people act like you never saw a flash- or otherwise badly lit photo. It's just bad ugly frontal lighting which gives sharp and thin shadows (like the one under her chin which everyone is bitching about) which are evident elsewhere in the picture and entirely self-consistent.
Ugly yes, photoshopped? I don't think so.

Kristijan said...

Also, to the guy above - my Photoshop skills are just fine, thank you.

Are you people blind??!! Her head is obviously shoped..whether it's her body or not is not the point..something odd is going on with this girl's head. I'm glad someone else has finally pointed this out b/c I've been talking about it all week

I didn't understand...

Jennifer X said...

Oh man, now that I see it's a head transplant, I can't unsee it!

"The pro's can spot a mistake from a mile off, whilst the crapper shoppers, and the one's who don't shop at all, often fail to see the mistake/humour."

I'm sure you're right: the comments here probably DO reflect our level of Photoshop skills.

But.

If an average Joe can look at one of these entries without going "OMGWTF?" then I'd venture to say it's not a disaster. A "gaffe", maybe; perhaps an "issue". But not a disaster.

We're not so good with PS, but can this one be the solution?

http://www.marikikka.com/blog/2010/07/08/britney-superstar-e-il-fantastico-trapianto-di-faccia/

Shae said...

It's not the "sharp and thin shadows". It's the angle. Think about how she's holding her head - it's at an angle that a human can't pull off.

Head from one photo, body from another.

Anyone else have trouble with the word verification on the comment form occasionally not showing up?

Davidikus said...

I am surprised that some people can miss that the head has been BADLY pasted onto a torso. Both might belong to the same person but they don't belong to the same picture. Just have a look at the light: it does not hit the body in the way that it hits the face! The head is too small too... & so forth.

Before saying 'there is no PsD here', why don't you have a close look at the picture.

Do magazines even care what their covers look like any more? PSD or not this looks like crap. No wonder magazine sales are in the toilet.

I'm one of those people whose friends and family find them way too nit-picky, and usually I get what's the problem with these (otherwise I wouldn't find this blog so entertaining) - but speaking as a non-hypothetical non-Photoshopper (for the purposes of this conversation, an "average Joe") I don't see the problem with this one.

Not saying there isn't a problem, mind you - I'm just saying that it is not at all apparent to at least one non-Photoshopper.

Isha said...

What is it with Photoshop related blogs that bring out the complete douche bagginess of some commentators?

Is there a "turn me into an utter douche bag" button in CS5 that I've completely overlooked?

Is it nestled in between the "make fat person skinny" and "bobble head me!" buttons?

vw: obleado indeed.

candy said...

I can't see how people cannot see the problem! If you tried holding your head as she does in this picture, you'd have to pull your chin towards your neck. If you do that, you'll notice that your jaw and neck start to look like one solid mass with no definition. You're not gonna get a shadow like in the picture when you do that. This shop just looks more awkward the more you look at it.

heinz said...

first notice all the lame sex advice blabla on this cover. so the picture fits. its lame, may it be due to bad photography or bad shopping, it fits to a target audience of "20++ still reading lame sex advice". so this is not a psd-disaster its what that audience needs.

Johnny Dade, if you are saying that every single post on Photoshop Disasters is automatically a disaster and must not be questioned then I would suggest that your reasoning is a tad flawed.
I would also suggest that it is those members of the commentariat who manage to find an almost infinite number of imaginary disaterettes in every single submission who may be lacking in sufficient understanding.

entrethecircus said...

okay, being britneys like number one fan and completely knowing her body...
THIS IS HER BODY. AND HER FACE.
it's just 2 pictures. it's not a big deal. look at cosmos past covers. theres three covers with beyonce, all different outfits but her face doesnt change in any of them. so they do it alot. this isnt a big deal. get over it.

waldobaby said...

Wow, you actually keep track of these twits?

jambalie said...

@mari & kikka - i think you may be onto something

Dereck said...

That can't be real, how can that cover go through an editor? Wow.

Kristijan said...

Sorry people. I think you are seeing things because you want to. Like in that post before with the model in blue dress when everyone was convinced that her leg was moved for some reason, until someone drew her body contours under the dress to show everything was OK.

Tibo said...

@Kristijan : look at the neck shadow, this is way too black. And the proportions show that the head doesn't really fits with the body.
Also, having that position hearts your neck in a way you cannot pose like that.

But I truly agree with the fact that :
- The mistakes are not always obvious on PSD
- The author comments are not constructive and gets everyone lost sometime. Some explanations should be given

Melencolia said...

After inhaling another pizza that made her head explode, the photographer quickly stapled on another one he prepared earlier and asked his model to intensify her sex angle.

Jonny Dade said...

I never said anything about EVERY single post being a disaster, we've had non diasters, and i can remember a post not so long back were cosmo even admitted there was no error (think it was an iphone one)

I just get sick of reading negative comments on what to me, is a site were geeky nit picking people (like myself and others) can congregate and enjoy dismantling photos right down to it's individual pixels. If people expect disabled lesbians on a daily basis, then they might want to set up there own rival site..

WDI said...

I'm not sure if it would be polite of us to dismantle the good people over at www.disabledlesbians.com.

mariecoady said...

I am a 14-year-old teenage girl with absolutely NO Photoshop skills whatsoever...
And I can see this is a disaster.

PaulB said...

I love all the people on here who (a) can't spot the problem and (b) think that it's okay to stick two pictures together when you've frankly got the time, resource and cash to be taking decent photos to begin with. Hilarious!

I kinda feel sorry for the shopper who was given this assignment. Could any of you done a better job given the exact assignment that this poor slob was given? "Here, uh, we need to uh, make BS look good on the cover. Take these head shoots and uh, uh, well if you want to keep your job, just make her look good. Lotta luck. Need that on my desk by Friday 9am."

This site is great fun, but can I suggest a new section? Disaster Lab - where you take some of the posts and then are challenged to do a better job, with prizes awarded to the winner (voted by readers and site managers) First prize Lynda.com classes in CS5. Whoops! Maybe that should be last place prize.
