You might want to explain where the PSD is. As far as I can tell, it's quite possible to make the pose she is in.

Donna said...

The disproportion of the right arm is hidden in the legs, but apparently not concealed well enough.

However, if it were me, I would have removed the sty in her right eye.

Susan Wensel said...

You can see the toes of her right foot peeking out from the heel of her left shoe. That means her right foot is at a 90 degree angle to the left foot, while both shins point forward. Darned good photographer for catching that pose between the time she broke both bones in her lower right leg and when she collapsed in pain.

In addition, the forearm of her right arm is approximately half the diameter of her left forearm.

that's no PsD. Her arms have pretty much the same length. Her posture is odd, but hey... guess that's art.

What is scandalous is her hidious haircut, gosh this is gonna give me nightmares.

WHY don't you post the REAL PsD's we're posting you by dozens everyday??? This blog becomes crappier every freakin post, come on guy, with all the shit that is comming out those days, how can you post this and pretend this is a PsD???

You were the god of all the unpunished photoshop crimes, but now you just became a fool posting random ads and making fun of them, what is the point?? I'm so pissed right now!

Gosun said...

you're joking right? So you think that this woman's right arm and wrist are perfectly normal? Wow, that's... er... interesting.

jambalie said...

hey, supernawa - no one cares. seriously. please shut up. look at the WIDTH of both her arms and then shut up again.

ewaffle said...

superwawa if you are so pissed right now and there are lots of photoshop disasters that Cosmo, who does one post a day, can't get to then why not quit whining about something you can't change and start your own blog about photoshop disasters?

Since there is so much unused raw material that is there for the taking there must be room for plenty of blogs like this.

After a while you will have a few thousand followers, get paid ads and have a nice little business/second income.

Complaining about this blog and stomping your little feet won't change anything.

Teer Wayde said...

There is no photoshop other than touching up skin, curve level and color correction going on in this shot.

As a model myself I know just hot odd an image can look on camera. There is really nothing odd what so ever in this image.

With her arms the size difference is just an illusion. What is closest to the camera when shooting is larger. They are not the same size dude to the arms being in completely different angles.

Check out some high fashion magazines and you will see many obscure poses. This is nothing new.

waldobaby said...

@supernawa: give me nightmares / crappier every freakin post / all the shit / you just became a fool / I'm so pissed right now!

How did it ever get to the point that the world owes you so much?

aijin said...

Teer Wayde: Explain the toes of the right foot pointing towards the camera, then. Try as I might, I just can't get my entire leg to twist that way. And if I could, my right knee would not be pointing that way, either.

And if we're going to be splitting hairs on arm-to-camera distance, shouldn't her right leg then also be way smaller?

...come to think of it, what the hell is going on with her right calf there? Is it just way bigger than her left calf?

Teer Wayde said...

Looking at that foot and the calf its nothing odd really to me.

I can roll my ankle till it looks like its broken, the more effort you put into twisting your bits the more things like the calf would pop out.

Its all in the way a model poses, she can look completely distorted and broken but still its just a pose.

Morgan said...

As a massage therapist, I have to agree with Teer W. The width of the wrist at the side is significantly different from the width of the back. This angle, combined with most of the meat of the forearm being hidden by the thigh, would serve to make her right arm look awkwardly small compared to her left.

Doesn't save it from being a hair shop disaster, though.

Angela said...

I just tried to replicate the pose, turning my right foot so it was at at an 85 degree angle to my left foot. All I accomplished was giving my cats a good laugh.

Claude said...

My homeschooled girlfriend can do that.

supernawa hit it on the spot; this website operates like a tabloid. I really doubt the owners of the website cares if their uneducated posts are defamatory in nature to the photographers and models of these images. I doubt the posting of these copyrighted photos are covered by fair use since most of the "discussions" are defamatory in nature, which is illegal even if you do own the copyright.

Also not saying bad photoshop doesnt exist. But just like how racism exists, one shouldnt just accuse others of being racists with uneducated guesses.

Cheers

Nelson,
I am not a lawyer (and I don't play one on TV) but as I understand things, it is not "defamatory" to point out examples of sloppy Photo-editing, awkward photography, or other advertising/publishing oddities - no more than a negative review of a movie, book, musical performance, product, or restaurant, would be. There are other sites that celebrate "The Best" in advertising graphics - this site is on a mission to find the disasters that slip by the editors or publishers for many different reasons.

As far as I can tell, all of the images on this blog are publicly published (in printed or on-line media) and are reviewed by the "Court of Public Opinion." Many of the comments made on this blog are made by working Graphic Designers, Photographers, Art Directors, Marketers, Photo Editing specialists, Proof-readers, and others with many years of training and experience in this general field. Other comments are made by the "intended audience" of the material that has been produced - the consumers, readers, "targets" or whatever you want to call them.

If we can't poke a bit at "Mass Media" when they deserve it, how will they (we) ever learn?

(and sometimes the errors are so astounding we have to just sit back and laugh out loud...)

Ew, that actually looks nasty! I wonder if the mini arm owner got paid.

Insert name here said...

Yeah like previous comments I agree that it's only a photo shoot and a hairdo disaster. If the photograph is 2 meters from the model then that explains the difference in length, and Morgan explained the difference in width. For the angle of the foot, just try it before getting excited : it's uncomfortable but I didn't break anything while sitting in this awkward manner. The hairdo has no excuse however.

Wow. I thought I was used to level of whining that went on about the quality of this free -- repeat, FREE -- blog, but the entitlement going on in this thread is mind-boggling. You're angry? You really, really need to find more to think about in life. Try being angry that the ocean is full of poison, hmm?

And as for the "it's not a PsD" folks, I'm no expert in PS or anatomy, but most of the people I see have forearms that are the same length.

WDI said...

Well, I'm not going to throw my toys out of the pram and declare everyone in the world to be worthless dirt but I will go so far as to say that I think this is an entirely possible pose and that I don't see anything unusual about the arms.
I think William of Ockham might wonder why all these photoshoppers would spend time deliberately manipulating awkward and unnatural looking poses when the models are clearly capable of doing it themselves.

I'm willing to be persuaded that the size difference is just a trick of the lens.

What I'm mainly worried about is how much paler the tiny arm is, compared to the rest of her. She must be clamping that arm so tightly between her legs that all circulation has been cut off. And that can't be good.

Maybe the pain from the arm is helping to distract her from the twisted ankle.

Rob S said...

I don't think this pic qualifies for a photoshop disaster. Her right arm is clearly not at the same as her left arm. It takes only a few degrees of slant for the forearm of her right arm to appear a lot shorter than her left. As for the toes, initially it looked a bit odd but I don't doubt that a young woman in high heels can get her left foot in to this position, it would add a bit of stability as she crouches down. It certainly isn't at 90 degrees to her left foot, and I doubt her right heel is on the ground either, I can just about get that position myself (although hanging on to the coffee table for help).

waldobaby said...

If you measure the two wrists, the two she has that are right angles to each other, their ratio is about 1:1.6. My wrist has pretty much the same thickness to width ratio.

If you measure her forearms from the elbows to the wrists, they have a ratio of 7:9, but if you notice when you bend your arm to a ninety degree angle, your elbow moves in such a way as to shorten the apparent forearm length.

I have no "rational" explanation for the dickhead (on the model).

The only complaint I have about this Blog is the Mandatory Reading Clause. I think anyone that forces others, day after day, to read and look at this Blog, has stepped way over the boundaries. Just who do you think you are Mr. Photoshop Disaster that your Blog be Mandatory Reading! I suppose next you will make us all buy subscriptions to Vogue and help you look for Photoshop Disasters...what....this isn't Mandatory Reading...seriously?

OK, my one complaint has changed. It's those idiots that can't seem to find the UNSUBSCRIBE function to a Blog, and instead of just leaving for a Happier Place, they stick around and whine...Unsubscribe if you don't like it. See, it's not that hard!

Okay: Everyone who suspects that "Nelson" has had a really crappy photoshop job that appeared on PSD, raise your hand! That's what I thought.

Surely the PSD here is that they seem to have turned a formerly rather attractive if rather tuneless and annoying 'singer' into some sort of over-made-up tramp with a hairstyle modelled on the green Teletubby.

@Hidden Persuaders

Unnecessarily vitriolic. Why are people so f'ing hateful on a site that's supposed to be casual entertainment? This isn't deciding the fate of nations; it's a useless blog site (which I happen to really enjoy... but that makes it no less useless in a cosmic sense).

Anyway... I think it's a legit picture. Her leg is obviously blocking her arm. Look at her right hand. Its proportions are exactly in line with her other hand. The foot angle looks uncomfortable, but not impossible. I think we're trying too hard to find fault in people's work sometimes. Missing feet or legs or horribly done collages? Great. VERY subtle and subjective arm sizes? We can do better than that. C'mon.

@Michael : I regret to inform you that anything any person or group of person (including the whole mankind or all live beings of the universe together)does is cosmically insignificant. As Douglas Adams pointed out, if you were able to see your life in the perspective with the whole universe, the understanding of your own insignificance would probably kill you instantly.

@Hidden P: Relax. If sitting in this pose really is impossible to you, see your physician, chiropractician, neurologist... but if you're over 60, just believe that young bodies can bend like this.

Hidden Persuaders said...
