Fallout: Lefty

PSD

When you’re one of the few survivors of a nuclear holocaust, it pays to have a little extra help.

The image was submitted by Anonymous. You can see the original here.

You can now find brief definitions for all of the labels we use on PSD here.

Ahhh, that list of tags kinda explains matters

    • http://www.facebook.com/tiagoroldao Tiago Roldao

Kinda… It’s too bad they’re aiming to have every picture on EVERY Category…
      Seeing the original helps.
PS I think the messed up skyline comping is a clever distraction, don’t you? ;)

    • http://actonthat.livejournal.com/ Act

The audience already knew what the tags meant; it was them who didn’t. I guess I see what they’re trying to prove/justify, but it doesn’t matter if they explain their interpretation of the tags if it’s not consistent with what they’re actually shown to mean, if that makes sense (or, if they’re used rotely and not with any thought or creativity whatsoever).

      • OP

I’m so happy they decided to treat the readers like idiots rather than admitting that they themselves lack wit to use the tags or come up with their own.

My favorite “explication”: also-soylent-green-is-people – No real meaning

        • Waldobaby

When they DID dare to come up with new tags they were excoriated most mercilessly. Damned if they do; damned if they don’t.

          • armadillo_in_furs

Yes they came up with such classics of wit as “celebrity” and “magazine”.

    • Olioke

Yes, now this blog can cater to the home schooled crowd.
Make sure to print out their list and keep it for handy reference.

  • Commie

Red sky at night clone brush delight.

  • http://actonthat.livejournal.com/ Act

Really? You’re going after video game posters?

I sincerely doubt this is a “Photoshop” disaster. This is akin to taking a painting and declaring any anatomical inaccuracies as being PSDs. Also, I’m not entirely sure the angle here isn’t just weird– or, rather, the perspective on the model isn’t just a bit messed up.

    • Anon

Really? You failed to miss everything wrong about this picture? Someone has a stroke while using the clone tool and you chalk it up to odd perspective?
If you don’t think this is a photoshop disaster, you’re an evolutionary disaster.

    • http://www.facebook.com/tiagoroldao Tiago Roldao

I hear your point, I just don’t see it (which, taking into account the “O’rly??” tone, is kinda messed up ;) )
Let’s try to ignore the skyline issue here… Two things make it a PsD: a) the obvious unfinished clone tool (as Anon pointed out), or rather actual copy/paste of the entire arm (I guess the “Dead Money” sign REALLY needed to fit.. Check the shades, its the same pixels, all over again..) and more importantly b) its a freekin’ poster! It isn’t “ok” because its a 3D render, its awful because someone ordered this from someone else, to publicize a huge budget game…

      • http://actonthat.livejournal.com/ Act

Mea culpa. I sincerely missed the skyline and just kind of figured the arm thing was part of the suit xD I thought the hand looked weird, but my first thought was more, “Are we attacking how realistic Sims models are?” And, considering this was the banner for a fansite (it seems), and not the boxart… meh.

  • Pirateliz

His right shoulder pad is there but no upper right arm, which would make it really hard to hold that revolver !

  • http://ladyluckbeauty.blogspot.com/ LadyLuck

Thats his secret weapon, so no PsD

  • Rob

Come on, we could all use an extra hand with Photoshop sometimes.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_L5DQFVHHBFI4PF2NWAP3RBJAHA kleenex

He is just a freak of nature, I swear. How else can he have an extra hand….

    • Waldobaby

      …and a mantis butt.

    • Commie

All that Fallout. It does that. It gave me three penises.

  • OP

The original is where?? Can you link to the image on an actual commercial site? Is this some fanboi work?
The image on the box (which seems to be this one but in close-up) is different — different skyline etc.

    • john

Original is “here” just links to a bigger version of the same picture not to an actual image in the context of a website…. what’s the point of the link??

      • Waldobaby

“Original is “here” just links to a bigger version of the same picture not to an actual image in the context of a website…. what’s the point of the link?? ”

To show they have no idea if they’ve been trolled or not. EDIT: The “show original” link takes you to a gamer site. I can find the image through the link but not through the gamer site, which doesn’t mean much, admittedly. I have gotta do a better job of reading the link URLs!

      • http://www.facebook.com/tiagoroldao Tiago Roldao

Go to the main website: it actually explains why the sky is the way it is: it was to be covered up by the website’s main content.
It can’t be shown “in context” because the context is a gaming website: Deadrising 2 is what’s on it right now, for instance.
@Waldobaby: see what you did? Now I’m hooked! :P

This blog has become a really bad parody of itself.

    • Tyler Durden

But I really want them to sell me a T shirt with a PSD on it! It doesn’t matter that it’d be a low resolution image, or that it’d infringe on the artists copyright, or even that I could buy some transfer paper and make one myself. The women would be all over me.

  • that guy

What’s the point in defining all the tags if the only one you use is ‘baroque anatomy’?

  • Nefertiti

    WHAT IS THIS?

I worked with a great team on the original images for this campaign, and believe me, NOTHING is more annoying than seeing some amateurs making botched up copy/pasting work on top of your work! You make a great image, and then you ship it, and first thing you know they comp it together SO BAD that it completely ruins all the hard work we put on it.

Go see the originals for yourselves, this is NOT what we delivered:

    http://www.meduzarts.com/Works/Details/10

We pride ourselves in making the highest quality images on the market, and you will see ZERO cloning issues, wrong tones, nothing on the originals, because we don’t work by patching stuff together. The team we worked with at the advertising company were top-notch, everyone during the process made sure things are perfect, no less. How this comes to happen, and escapes the tight controls over such a big brand makes me speechless.
