Radio Times: Bigheaded Professor

With more honors, awards and sexiness than the rest of the UK combined, Prof Cox’s head has become so enlarged his neck is in danger of snapping. Seriously though – Radio Times should stop making bitchy PS alterations to an all out stellar dude.

Thanks Carly! You can see the original here.

Update: Radio Times has just presented evidence that this magazine cover isn’t a PSD.  Sorry Radio Times we promise to feature you sometime really soon.

Also I think you’ll find that the Sun is a bit bigger than this in real life (it a bit too hot to hold as well)

    • MrRocking

      Yes. Where are his gloves?

    • r23

No, it’s just a lot closer than the likes of Cox would have you believe…

  • Jacob

Sorry PhotoShop Disasters, as a designer at Radio Times I know that is the original shot (minus the Sun, obviously) – no enlargement. I do appreciate that the foreshortening of his shoulders looks a bit daft though!

Brian Cox has a rather small head. I know this because I’ve seen him on a variety of programmes. Either this is the real deal (a PSD) or some wonky angle.

  • Micawbr

Surely, his thumbs are the disaster.

  • Jim

10 fingers? The rest is deliberate though, not a PSD.

One could argue that these shadows (shoulder, nose) really don’t match the position of the sun.

As far as the big head goes, it’s clearly the sun’s wide-angle gravity lensing.

    is there a bobble-head version?

  • http://twitter.com/farlakes God

and maybe…just maybe… the shopper is a female and the prof told her to give him good massive head….

    • Circularfile

And since his name is Cox, one can undertand how she misinterpreted the instructions.

  • Starlitskyy

I think the size distortions were done intentionally – however, his hands are a total disaster (his right thumb was put on backwards, just to start).

if he is holding a sun in his hands.. why his head cant be a bit bigger???

  • Grace

Okay, this is the first time that I have said this, I promise — I don’t think this is a PSD – I don’t know about the hands, and I am pretty sure the sun is bigger than shown, and he is probably not standing in front of a galaxy of stars – but I don’t think there is anything wrong with the size of his head. It seems in proportion to the size of his shoulders and upper arms. It looks like it is too big because the outer edges of the shoulders and arms are lost in the shadow.

However, I have not ever seen this guy before (heck, I thought it was David Brenner when I first saw it) – so maybe he has some abnormally small head in real life and they enlarged it to make it seem normal? I must be missing something since there is not a bunch of “This is not a PSD” posts on here. Where’e the red circle link when I need it?

  • mokkori

Obviously the Photoshoppers of the world are doing an amazing job if this is the best “disaster” you can find.

  • Nevermindtheheadofcox

they have done something, though because if you overlay the 2 pictures, the hands don’t line up when the face does.

Ugh, did you really have to be such a bitch about it? Just apologize, accept the mistake and move on. They’re right, you’re wrong. No reason to be so arrogant.

    • Badoom

He said sorry, didnt he? Now YOU stop being such a bitch your entire life…

      • http://www.facebook.com/gabi.garcez Gabriela Garcez

        Sorry, not possible.

Just don’t understand the attitude when they’re obviously wrong. A little humility would be good, especially because they get it wrong very often.

  • Katie K

Hahaha his head really is that big! Brilliant!

  • Shadow the Gill

Even after the update, – this should go then to the Photography Disasters page instead of PSD. The problem is that basic rules of photography were broken to force-create an (would say) unappealing photo.

  • Mangux

I think I know the disaster! Stars could never be small enough to fit between both of your hands, especially without burning them, and without making you blind, and without achieving a gravitational lensing effect. Radiotimes thought it could pull a fast one on me. Hah!

  • Kathy

When I saw this pic, the first thing I thought of was Raj from Big Bang Theory. And that was before I saw the PSD below of Penny’s hands! Weird.

  • Maxaxle

    Freaky lighting, apparently…

further evidence that the PsD editors need a little lesson in perspective.
