Jay Cutler: Head to Head

stuck on head

As a joke Jay Cutler, the footballer, wanted his head pasted on Jay Cutler, the bodybuilder. But in the confusion over names Jay Cutler’s head went on Jay Cutler’s body by mistake. Ha ha.

Thanks Thomas for taking the time out to scan and send this to us. If you can’t see the PSD, please check out our marked up image gallery.

I’m confused. So you’re saying the bodybuilder’s face went on the bodybuilder’s body? Or the footballers face went on the bodybuilder’s body? Or what?

Yes, it is a bad composite, whoever’s body and face they are. by Jshook

unless i’m missing the whole joke because i have no idea who any of these jay cutlers are…

it honestly looks to me just like shadowing. look around the neckline… it LOOKS like it’s cut & paste, but you can see where the shadow meets the lighting, and where the light’s coming in over the top of his right shoulder muscle. it just looks like he was stuck in a poorly aimed spotlight and someone thought the picture looked badass.

      Dude. No. This is indefensible.

i agree wit u. still, i find myself nervously rubbing my neck as i look at this photo…

did i mention i was on a holiday when this was born?

  • UFGrayMatter

Shadows, not a PSD. That freak has always looked like that.

    • Mordecai

The bodybuilder’s head went on the body builder’s body. The question is why? IMHO it’s not shadows, it’s clearly a head transplant. Maybe he had a funny look on his face..oh wait..

  • Kyle

I’ve met Jay Cutler before, and worked with him for several days. In all seriousness, I think they may have sized his body DOWN to fit onto the cover.

  • Swingboy3

Is everyone seriously not seeing this? This is an MSPain style copy and paste of the head. It’s like Frankenstein’s Monster Meets photoshop. Cut—Paste Done. The only thing that they did right was get proportions correct.

    • Dismayed

I agree. If most of you think this is a shadow issues, then explain the cut line on his left. The head is clearly lit from the side and the muscles in no way cast a shadow. One of the worst and most blatant “drop and go” job I have ever seen. I have been doing this too long and have done my share of head replacement. This is no shadow.

  • Samwell

    yes Yes YES!!!

Please, more insane people commenting on how it’s legit — I love you mooks!

Such a non shop. Google image jay cutler bodybuilder (prepare to be grossed out). It’s almost every image that his crazy huge head creates a stark contrasted shadow around his neck.

We photoshop “professionals” want to believe that comping is so difficult that we frown upon this designer who was obviously good enough to do a tremendous job cutting out the individual outlining strains of hair, but you think somehow didn’t notice how bad it would look to paste on a head? I think not.

    • http://www.www.psdisasters.com Vernon

Not so sure Jesse. If you look at all the images of him on the web and the one you posted he looks normal.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_YFSVH6WAK4G4LH5FMN7LYBE6IE ahouseormaybeaboat

yup. this is totally what’s going on here! it’s the shadow from that muscle mass on his shoulders that’s creating a “line” on his neck.

  • Pm

They are absolutely shadows. I shoot fitness athletes for a living and have to deal with it all the time. If you look at the catchlights on his face you can see they used a three light setup – a large softbox high at the front (causing the shadows under his chin), and two small hairlights at 45 degrees on either side of him, high and to the back (look at the catchlights on his shoulders and face if you don’t believe it). His traps are just so colossal they cast a shadow where most normal humans aren’t used to seeing shadows. The only mistake in this photo is not raising the hairlights another 3 feet. So, yes…it is defensible. And you are mistaken this time, I’m afraid.

OK, then tell me why, when I do nothing but increase the contrast, I can clearly see horizontal black lines under the bottom of the neck, as though the head had been cut from another picture? Was there a special black-line creating light, too?

      • Pm

increasing the contrast will only intensify the effect of the special black-line creating lights also known as ‘shadows’. Light in unidirectional. look at the direction of the light coming from behind him from the two hairlights, and you’ll see it’s not so magical after all. If you choose not to see them, that’s cool. It really makes no difference to me at all. I have recreated that effect in my studio (albeit unintentionally) more than enough times to say with confidence that what you’re seeing is a shadow. If it makes you feel better not to believe me you’re more than welcome to disagree. I’m not saying it’s a good effect, and I certainly understand why there are people who would think that it looks like a lazy comp, but a closer look makes it very clear that it isn’t.

        Happy Friday.

        • Occamsrazor

I am well aware of what a shadow is and what one looks like. These are not shadows. They are small black lines that bisect the tendons in his neck. The actual shadows get darker when the contrast is increased, but they do not become solid thin black lines. I never said anything was magical. It isn’t magical at all. It is a crap chop job you’d like me to believe is instead a 1 in a billion trick of lighting.

Your screen name is remarkably appropriate then. The simplest explanation *must* be the right one, even if there is a competing hypothesis. I don’t care what you believe, my friend – I’m simply sharing my experience with you. No worries.

Enjoy the rest of your day :)

3 nonPSDs in a row. This means a PSD should be coming fairly soon? Can’t wait!

    • http://www.www.psdisasters.com Vernon

I think you might be waiting a while given you have a hard time spotting them :)

      • anticipatedeli

You mean because I’m not a retard fanboi of this shitty blog, “Vernon”? Not everyone is blind and stupid like you. I think I’ll stop clicking on this blog now.

        • BrainDead_TH

I hope you keep your promise.

        • Haterbaiter

If you think it is a “shitty blog” and aren’t a fan WHY DO YOU COME HERE, AT ALL, EVER?! And you call other people stupid?

Other things that probably occur during your day:
“I hate cheese. I think I will go have several slices.”
“This perfume smells awful. I will spray it on my nose.”
“I don’t like the cold, so I am moving to Antartica.”

  • No

    In this thread:

Example of someone saying it’s a genuine photo – “I have experience in this field and here’s some reasons why it looks this way”

Example of someone saying it’s a PSD – “Look at it! It looks all weird!”

Agree… But it’s difficult to prove an evidence. So many things gone wrong in this example I show that I can’t be sure if some folks are going mad or just kidding.

  • YoMomma

A few problems here: First and most obvious is that is not the head of Jay Cutler, the qb for the Bears. Not even close. Second, it is the head of Jay Cutler, bodybuilder. Third, most of the google images of Jay Cutler, bodybuilder look like the PsD image.

One minute spent on google images would have shown why this shouldn’t have been published as a PsD.

    • YoMomma

OOPS. I see you made a joke. Ha Ha.

  • Mahyd2

It’s photoshopped. I saw some of his pictures, and his neck has only one smooth color……… Come on, even whit the moire, you can see the different texture in the skin……………

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_YLREO5SQDTMCWXE62YE5AVTGNI Bird

The only way this is not a PsD is if his head were cut off and reattached…….by a 6 year old. The sharply cut line, the color difference, nothing in the neck lining up (look at the veins on the sides and the tendons in front).

  • Horny Toad

    HULK SMASH!

  • http://profiles.google.com/likalaruku Allaiyah Weyn

I was so busy throwing up when I saw this that I almost didn’t notice his neck.
