Highway Code: French Mutants

long arm highway

So when you’re driving along the A26 in France and you’re wondering what the holdup is, you can think of this PSD. All US viewers are fine, this sort of mutation has only occurred in the EU so far.

Thanks Artémise for scanning and sending this into us. You can see the full version below. If you can’t see the PSD, please check out our red image gallery.

Why is this a disaster? The arm is elongated on purpose to make it look like a roadsign.

    • http://www.www.psdisasters.com Vernon

If something is elongated and looks terrible, we class this as a disaster. The
      image above looks ridiculous.

      • http://twitter.com/spacewestern Michael

I’d say a PS disaster would be when someone tries to achieve something, but fails to do so – but nonetheless publishes it.

However in this I’d say they’ve produced exactly what they’d set out to produce.

Sure, if this was on the cover of Vogue then it would most likely be a disaster – but the elongated arm is clearly used to emphasise  a point.

      • Mcewenpe

Ridiculousness has to be determined in context. We don’t know the context.

      • Bob_super

Here is the context: rules of the road.
You are supposed to leave space next to the person you are passing.
That’s why they extended her arm to illustrate the extra space you shouldn’t drive in.
        Completely intentional.

PSD fail (even if it was hard to guess)

        • http://blog.arikatt.com Ariela B.

It’s basically illustrating that if a person stands at the side of the road with their arm stretched out normally, you should be about another arm’s length further away than that.

        • The_seurge

I’m agree with you. In France you have toleave a space of 1 meter at least.

So yes, it is really intentional, but from my point of view, it still a real disaster 😀

      • Kelseigh Nieforth

It’s sad to see someone go to such lengths to avoid admitting a mistake.

Perhaps that’s why the rating system vanished.

Do think you really needed to add the sentence ‘If you can’t see the PSD, please click here.’? … :-)

i agree with Michael’s comment. if it’s intentional its not a true psd. if intentionaly distorted images are psd, then this site shouldnt complain about shortage of psds, we can start off with pablo picasso’s paintings, no?

    • Hr R

Don’t think good old Pablo used PS though…

      • http://profiles.google.com/joebarasa Joe Barasa

true. he used brushes and paint, i guess. just as some today use corel painter and gimp and… ms paint? to produce… psds

everyone who says this isn’t a PSD can kiss my hairy balls

      • Commie

It’s mildly amusing. You come here, see that I am handsome and popular, and you are not. You think perhaps you will emulate me in some way and mislead people. But being an empty puerile shell, you have nothing to work with, no substance. In any case you reveal yourself every time, because I am so witty and charming and you just belch out teenage insults. No one for a moment will confuse Prince Charming with you, frog.

        • RichardWagner

What makes you think you are either handsome or popular? Neither here nor in your miserable real life, from which you seek refuge in this parallel world, buddy.

          • RichardWagner

Yeah, take that you donkey-kissing, baby-slapping, goat-headed nerd!

          • Commie

You are mildly amusing but you know deep in you’re heart that I’m the best and have the hairiest balls ever! So, shut up.

    Hello, I’m not sure that’s a PSD.

Following the title “Croisements et dépassements” (“Overtakings”), this page is extracted from a book for driving learners.
It could be a picture explaining that you have to keep a distance when you overtake the girl.

    • http://twitter.com/AndysDrawings Andy Mason

Yeah, it’s not exactly subtle.  I have a hard time believing that this could have happened by accident, and that it wouldn’t have been caught by an editor.  It’s clearly not supposed to be convincing…

Too loooooooooooooooooooong hand. ha ha ha

  • Future Shock

I have to agree with the people who think this is deliberate, not a PS disaster. Look at how her arm lines up with the roof of the church in the background. Look at how her wristband aligns with the peak of the church roof and the rear corner of the car. This is a carefully composed image. It’s not bad Photoshop but a bad concept. The graphic designer has carefully implemented a bad joke that doesn’t translate to a wider audience, so the real blame lies with whoever came up with the idea for this advert.

  • Mimi

It’s not a PSD, she just happens to be standing near a microscopic black hole, and you are witnessing the spaghettification of her arm.
