Oneymoon: Onan Would Be Proud

dislocated arms

My mother told me my arms would fall off if I did that. Seems she was right.

Thanks Kate. You can see the original here. If you can’t see the PSD, please check out our marked up image.

That looks intentional. I like the idea. The trolley and its “shadow” in the “sand” are the real PSD here.

But I like a choice of light values! The bride, the suitcase with its two different shadows, the beach background… can’t decide if Christel’s head is in the same room as the dress. Any others?

I love it. Its beautifully uncanny.

No wonder why she’s alone O_o

    • Bob

Yep, there’s a reason why other hairless apes are extinct.
(the suitcase is the only PSD that counts, she’s intentional)

  • Dino_san

not a psd! that was intentional!

    • Kelseigh Nieforth

Yeah, it looks like it was done *because* it would look funny.

The arms are funny! Go Christel Bartelse! http://www.christelbartelse.com/tag/oneymoon/

I think the position of the arms was intentional – we’ve all seen bad comics do that pose and IRL arms don’t go around far enough, so the shpper just extended everything.  But if you want everyone to see the joke that it is her arms, then why use arms that don’t match the rest of her body.  The arms are too white.  Maybe it is supposed to be some weird glove where the part that covers the hand is white and the rest of the arms has a very sheer see through fabric – but why not go with just the white gloves that stop at the wrist or jsut past the writst?

I think they actauly had some other woman wrap her arms around the actress and then they shopped out the rest of the other woman’s body. Probably did this twice – once for each arm However, the other woman had darker skin so they badly altered the color or they put some shear gloves on her (and the other woman was much shorter adn her head would be at the actress’s chest).

    • Rundes

The gloves aren’t sheer, they’re satin.  They don’t change at the wrist, that’s just the difference in reflection.  Satin does that.

      • Stella

I did not know that, thanks.  I think whoever picked the gloves made a poor choice, but it wasn’t a PsD.

Intentional or not it is still a disaster.

I want the bendy woman for my wife! Send a missive!

  • Chris

    she’s just double jointed

  • Bukax42

She looks like a creature from Silent Hill or other twisted horror with deformed monsters.

    Creepy!

    MAKE IT STOP!!!

  • KwantumFizikz

They ‘shopped the arms (or used a model who was literally 3 inches wide at the shoulders, which I doubt) and it looks awful, ergo, *intentional or not*, PSD.

I actually saw this show at the Calgary Fringe and my boyfriend and I discussed wether or not it was an actual PSD. We decided not because they definitely didn’t want it to look like she was just hugging herself. The disembodied arms really go along with the whole finding herself (maybe one piece at a time…ha, ha) undertone of the story. Anyway. The photo sure got us talking (and walking right into the show). If it comes to your neck of the woods you should check it out , we really enjoyed it!

This is indeed a PSD, but what immediately caught my eye was the suitcase. The wheel should be buried in the sand, but seems to be hovering because of the shadow. Also, from the angle of the light I’d assumed that the suitcase should also cast a shadow slightly to the right.

The arms are, of course, completely intentional, and I’m not sure they were what the submitter had in mind.
