Jule’s Cheese Crate: Goat’s Head Soup

PsD’s Believe It or Not Trivia – The Rolling Stone’s original inspiration was this little down home cheese farm in Germany.

Thanks Joachim. You can see the original on the Jules Kasekiste site. I was seriously considering censoring the cow.

Isn’t that dog in the background a bit too big also?

  • Hugo

You are aware of the Dolly Buster video on their website? 😉

Quite the visual enigma. Setting aside questions of scale (which are legion) the sheep’s head seems to be attached to something dark with some sort of plants in front of it. I’m guessing it’s the sheep’s original body and the original photo showed the full sheep in a field of clover or hay or something. It got magic-wanded out of there and into this mess. On an irrelevant note: I have always found the act of showing animals the food we make from their own bodies to be in bad taste. Which is what she appears to be doing here. Not as bad as showing a pig a rasher of bacon and licking your lips, but still….

And don’t mock the way the Germans grow goats until you’ve been there. Then mock it.

      • OurJames

Sorry, I am notorious among my friends for failing to distinguish between sheep and goats. Or of being able to. I’ve been to Germany five or six times so I believe my mocking credentials are in order.

OurJames – Goat’s cheese is not made from goats; it is made from goats’ milk – aka no goats were harmed in the making of this cheese. Yes, the ark goat’s body is weird, but IMO it’s not bad taste to show a goat’s head for a goat cheese ad.

Nicewriter – I think the dog is normal size.

    • OurJames

I know cheese is made from their milk. That only prolongs the mockery. “See what we did with your milk that you made for your thirsty children?” And we’re going to KEEP DOING IT!”

I agree the dog is the right size. In fact, it’s the only thing in the image that is.

    • Marcy

      Maybe it is head cheese.

Don’t start quoting dictionaries – I was just kidding (kidding?  get it?)

      I think I need coffee….

Damn, I remember this site from the Ralph Lauren thing. Always wondered what happened to it; doesn’t seem to have had a book out, isn’t part of the Cheezburger network (at least, doesn’t appear to be). This isn’t a great example of photographic design work, but it’s just a silly local farm in Germany; it’s not a disaster unless the subject (the disast-ee?) aimed high. “Photoshop Events” doesn’t have the same ring.

    • Waldobaby

” it’s not a disaster unless the subject … aimed high”.

Since when have any of these been aimed high? Every single PSD here has been designed by a grunt, not by an artist, but someone who has been been paid to do a good enough job. Remember PSD corollary definition #4, :  If you get paid, it’s not a disaster.

    • Bev

It doesn’t matter if it’s Vogue, Victoria’s Secret, or some local farm in Germany, a giant disembodied goat head floating randomly in the middle of an advertisement qualifies as a Photoshop Disaster, IMO.

And “not a part of the Cheezburger network” is a huuuuuge plus in my book.  😀

  • Bev

Haha, love the note about censoring the cow!   Cows are such harlots, always flashing their teets like it’s nothing.  😉

This ad is a straight-up mess.  “Bring me the head of Goatzilla!”

  • Sacke

“I was seriously considering censoring the cow.”

So why didn’t you? the cow is full of naked TITS! and a naked fat A$$!!! Someone could be offended about all that rudeness!

  • Guest

I cut the cheese when I saw that one

What PSD????  That is only a taxidermy goats head on some nice looking land.

The same thing can be said of the dog in the back as well.
