WareLex: Dumb-Phoned-Ed

Look, Phil, I’m not saying your ‘window filter’ isn’t totally awesome.  But, honestly, isn’t it really more of a niche-market feature?

Thanks Sebastian. You can see the original here.

I can clearly see 6 legs (blurred but all there) on the children.
I can see that the ‘photo’ was taken making sure that no window framing shows up.

Is the PSD related to a question; How did the person take of a photo of  himself taking a photo?

    Photoception. answers that.

    • Waldobaby

You forgot to mention that the photographer’s hands are casting shadows on the window wall. That sucker’s CLOSE! No wonder the pane frames don’t show. Of course, that brings up much more disturbing questions, like “what’s the photographer doing in a doll house?”

Or… Gee! He’s got big hands?

Waldobaby, what you’re saying is huge camera and/or small window? I’m not sure what it is, but it makes my brain hurt.

Awesome… ever heard about “perspectives” and such unnecessary stuff?

  • Pedrotimon

    I would do the same.

What’s the point of making it more realistic when you want to sell, not to impress?

It’s better without the windows.    =p

The phone is closer to the window, so this is not entirely impossible. What impresses me, is that the camera sees through the fingers covering the lens.

  • http://www.radarinutil.com viOlator

That’s not impossible. You can shot something behind a fence, if the lenses are close enough to see through a hole in the fence. That’s the same principle.

    • Marcy

That is true.  However, if the lens is that close to the window (note the shadows of the hands too) then the window is much too small.

lol the windows have “trendy” shine on them. It makes no sense at all.

Can someone please tell me something is wrong with the children legs. The leftmost child appears to be ok, but the mid child has his left leg too much to the middle.  Also the rightmost girl appears to had her legs exchanged or cut off.

Apart from that (and the “window filter”) there is also the mini iphone, more or less the size of a business card.

    • CragAntler

The girl on the right is fine.  Her right leg is pointed at camera with the sole of her foot showing at the apex of a kicking motion.  Notice the shoe flying through the lower right corner she has just kicked off her foot?

The kids are sitting in a hammock and gravity is pulling them all down to center, hence the slightly odd scrunching effect of their positions.

Not only is the camera closer to the window, but isn’t the actual lens well over toward the left-hand side? At that, as long as it misses the left window pane, it will not only clear the right, but show items that are behind the right pane from our viewpoint, such as the white object in the upper right corner of the display.

  • AwesomeAL

The real problem is that his hands are in front of the lens. If you have an iPhone you can check it easily. In this picture the lens is on the top left (just take the iPhone like he does) and you notice that his fingers go behind the phone, blocking the lens in the corner. He would only see his fingers on the display.

  • Bev

I also love how the premise of this ad is that mom is too lazy or too involved with her laptop to go outside and take an actual picture of her kids.  Instead she leans over and takes a half-assed celly pic through the window — way to “phone” it in, mom!

It just looks like he has zoomed in?

  • Jeff

Not withstanding the fact that the iPhone’s lens is covered by the fingers, you can tell that the background scene and the image showing in the iPhone are the identical photo.  The iPhone should be showing a different perspective (closer or to the left), but it’s not.  Just count the posts on the deck in the background.  The eighth post from the left is touching the boy’s ear in both cases.  It would be hidden in the iPhone’s display.
