Welt der Wunder: Massive Mitt-stake

Okay, ich geben sie deine kappen back, Heinrich, but I cover your eyes now so you do not see zis krappy grafix werk, ja ja!

Danke Santino for scanning and sending this into us! The original was found in the German monthly newspaper “Welt der Wunder” the “German Wunderkind”. If you can’t see the PSD, you can check out our red circle image.

It’s “Ich gebe Dir deine Kappe zurück (back)”.

    • CragAntler

I don’t think it’s meant to be fluent German because there’s English mixed in.  More of a mock-German maybe.

Hmm…. where to start on commenting on this image.

    • Waldobaby

Start with the hand! Start with the hand!

      You’re welcome.

Oh. Wait. You said where to start on COMMENTING… It’s always best to start at the beginning.

      You’re welcome.

  • Mustangdco

So…basketball players are required to have normal sized hands now. Awkward, but not sure how much of a PSD.

  • oldtaku

Is it just me or is there something very strange going on at the back of that hat too? It looks like it’s inside his original head.

  • http://twitter.com/der_bahnchef Michael Grube

This dude has hands like toilet lids and that’s perfectly fine. No PSD. (I never thought I’d say this some time…)

  • Me

You can see that image all over the bank’s homepage: http://angebote.ing-diba.de/top-angebote/index.jsp?wt_mc=sem.google.SEA__Finanzshop_Search_brand.Finanzshop_Brand_Dibadu..&wt_cc1=dibadu&APID=2056

    Translation Disaster!

  • Aasd

An error? maybe. Disaster? Don’t think so.

  • http://twitter.com/nigelcoldwell nigel coldwell

It’s not a disaster. it’s just not perfect.

  • Nyks

its a huge basketball-player (> 2m ?!), and a small boy. There is also a TV-video-clip in german tv with this scene.

I dont think, that this is a PSD.

  • Bev

His right hand…?  Looks like a catcher’s mitt!

    • http://phelps.donotremove.net Phelps

I’ve met him.  His hands really are that huge.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=5524736 Kate Anthony

I don’t think this is a disaster at all. He’s a big guy grabbing onto the kid’s hat, who appears to have his hand on the hat too (behind the bigger hand.)

  • Brad

That’s Dirk Nowitzski of the Dallas Mavericks.. Look at the hand in relation to the ball. The man is over 7 feet tall… His hands really are that big. The kid’s head is smaller than the ball, as normal, so his hand looks even bigger. This is not a psd.

  • Dan

i dont see the disaster here… neither do is see another reason why you would post this picture at all. yes, dirk nowitzki has big hands, so what? would look weird with “regular” sized hands.

    • Waldobaby

“would look weird with “regular” sized hands.”

He would look better with only one right hand hand. It’s not a news photo; it’s a carefully posed commercial photo that has a disjarring element that takes away from the commercial message. Whether or not that hand was actually cleaned up in an editor, it has a current need to be cleaned up in an editor. Ergo: PSD.

      • Le_Bob

Except that I didn’t notice the hand before it was pointed out. So I guess not everyone is distracted by it.

And I wouldn’t call it a lack-of-PS either. IMHO, it’s fine the way it is.

That is just a bee sting right???

I think I need to unsubscribe now.

The image is fine… the extra bulk on the right side of the hand is the child’s other hand underneath his.

  • Tony Stubblefield

Adjustable hats like that only have a small hole in the back, they aren’t missing the entire back half. The back of the kid looks like he was cut out with an X-acto knife.

  • Presea23

    translate.google? Or what?

  • Kaber_d

No disaster here. The kids left hand is partially hidden by the Nowitzki’s big hand but you can still see a bit of it and that just adds to his already huge mits. The boys hair is kinda poofing through the back of the hat and that gives the illusion of being off.

    • CragAntler

I’m of the opinion that poor composition of the original photo to the point where it can APPEAR to be a PSD is still a “disaster” even if not caused by sloppy layering or other skills.  Neglecting to FIX what simply looks odd due to angle or lighting is still poor graphics work, as I see it.

      • Deverill

Poor composition is not a PSD, it’s simply a Photographic Disaster (PD) by definition.  If a photographer/director/whomever decided on that particular shot was any good the PS folks wouldn’t have to fix it.

  • http://phelps.donotremove.net Phelps

Another photoshop disaster that is neither a photoshop nor a disaster.  I figure this post will disappear down the memory hole like the others in 3… 2…

    • http://twitter.com/der_bahnchef Michael Grube

Right. So you saw posts disappearing, too? I thought I had a serious drug problem or something…

  • Stella

Yo me, the hand holding the hat looks bigger than the hand holding the pen.  However, I am not so sure it is a PsD so I will withhold my usual ranting about Photoshop needing to print directions in German.

  • georgebailey

    Fail

  • Bargonzo

Dirk Nowitzki has really big hands. And behind his own right hand is the kid’s left hand. For once, definitely no PSD.

  • Yo_momma

Whine about what level of disaster this is

    or

    Piss into the wind

    Equally effective.

    • Waldobaby

      That’s why we’re here, Momma. That’s why we’re here.

  • Guest

Forget about the hand – is that kid’s brain bulging out the back of the hat?  He appears to have a little patch of brown hair behind his ear and then, what, some bulging chemo-ridden head?  Weird.

  • Posteingang

This native German speaker nearly “krapped” himself with laughter after reading the mock-German caption.
