PLUM DISTRICT: FLAT-N-CRAPPY

What better way to teach kids Photoshop than by using it to create such a disastrous result?

Family Fail

Zoom in on the edges of the “dad’s” ears and the kids’ heads.  I think the culprit GA became hypnotized by seeing the word “flatten” too long while working on this, and went and selected Flatten Layers way before it was ready.  I mean, look at the dad’s eyes. He’s like a human Hypno Toad.  I just looked for a few seconds, and already want to flatten him.

Thanks Kelly. You can see the original on the Plum District site.

That kid is thinking where’s my real dad, he doesn’t transverse dimensions and time.

    He’s so adorable.

it looks to me like the shoulders and arms belonged to “mom”, and they switched the head out to be “dad”! either that, or he’s had a shoulder-ectomy!

I find it hard to believe that they couldn’t find some stock photo of a guy reading a book to his kids.

    Check out Happy Daddy! LOL!

It definitely looks as though none of the five elements of the scene (sofa, adult, child, baby, book) were ever in the same room at the same time…

The “Great for dads” sticker is strategically placed so the artist didn’t have to worry about any hands holding the book, and as Katy stated, dad’s head looks as though it’s been superimposed on someone else’s body…

What I don’t understand is why can’t the agency get a dad, two kids, the book and do a photo shoot???
    Stupid!

They thought they could save some money and nobody would know the difference.

Actually not my first time, but thanks!

Or indeed a stock photo of a dad really reading to kids, and then replace the cover design. That wouldn’t be very difficult.

  • Jshook

I think they took the head of the Dad on the cover of the book “My Super Dad” and stuck it on the “real” father’s head. Maybe when you order a book you have to send in a photo of the Dad and they use it on the cover. They do that with the children: “FlattenMe incorporates your child’s name and photo into sweet, imaginative tales that stand up to repeat readings…”

        Bird,

After taking your suggestion and going to FlattenMe, I think the Ad was actually supposed to look “Flat”. Hmmm.
