TEMPCO: Fukushima Unit 4 Cover Up

So Tepco released this badly altered image of the Fukushima Unit 4 and we can’t for the life of us understand why they would have done this, any ideas?

    This looks kind of funny … It’s probably a PsD, but it doesn’t look like a simple blur to me. Could it be possible that the photograph was taken through a plate glass window, and the glob is something on the surface of the glass? (If I were the photographer, I’d want to be behind plate glass at the very least!)

      Totally agree. It’s a spot of paint or a bird shit or something like that on the glass.

        Hmm… yeah, I see it now. I think it’s some stuff on a window between the camera and the subject.

          If that’s true, then I want whatever lens the photographer is using. The depth of field is almost beyond belief. Oh wait, it is.

          Also, consider the odds of a spot of paint on the window coming out with *exactly* the same hue, brightness and saturation of the wall behind it…

            Eh. Light grey over light grey on a cloudy day doesn’t require a very close match. Besides, look at the bottom edge — that doesn’t look blurred, that looks like glop. And as for unbelievable depth of field? How close to the window do you think the photographer was? Looks to me like the camera was eight or ten feet from the window … IF there was a window, and IFthe blotch is something on it.

    Its called slide of hand, they have you so preoccupied trying to guess what was covered up in this pic, when in reality maybe we should be asking if the pic was actually from the date they say it was taken on or is it an old one that they say is recent? The whole thing could be on fire and we are playing a game of Tepco’s where’s waldo!
